Key Address Note for 2012

Sir Charles Ong’ondo Were.
Aspirant for Member of Parliament (MP), Kasipul Constituency
General Election, 2013.

Key Address Note

To be an aspirant in the next general elections, 2013 as a member of parliament for the newly created Kasipul Constituency is a great honour. I thank my family, friends & relatives for great support and inspiration. I also thank Kasipul constituents & residents and the incumbent leadership for the services all of you have offered to the community over the past five years. Special thanks to my spiritual leaders for guidance and to God the Almighty for life and strength.

Kasipul constituency has a unique place in Kenya’s political life. It is famed for its political genuineness and compassion. In an age of cynicism about politicians, Kasipul (formerly part of Kasipul Kabondo Constituency) was one of the few constituencies in Kenyan politics that was truly fond. These was demonstrated when the son of Kasipul Kabondo the late Hon. Mr. Samuel Onyango Ayodo became one of the first member of cabinet at Kenya’s independence in 1963, as the Minister for Local Government.

Besides the political realignment since independence and multiparty system, Kasipul constituency is an economic potential area in East Africa region. It produces food grains both for subsistence and commercial purposes. Cash crops such as coffee, tea, sweet potatoes, fruits, vegetable, groundnuts, bananas, onion, sorghum and other crops thrive well in this region. However the constituency has not fully utilized its vast resources for the meaningful gain. Due to unemployment, poor infrastructure, increasing number of orphans and widows, prevalence of diseases such as Malaria, Tuberculosis, HIV/AIDs, and misappropriation of public funds and setting wrong development priorities has led to immense suffering to the people of the community. The worst hit are children, youths, women and the elderly.

Today, I seek your support in initiating a radical transformation within our community that touches on our social-economic well being. We live in a globalized world and we are bound to compete in terms of political, social and economic empowerment with the rest of constituencies in Kenya. We have to continuously remake our lives by improving our education standards, health facilities, infrastructure, agricultural potentiality, business & investment opportunities, sports & recreation facilities, public service delivery, being environmental conscious and knit our social ties firmly.

The prevailing mood of insecurity is an understandable community response to rapid economic restructuring and social change and these increasingly makes members of our community feel insecure and powerless to control their lives and properties. If left unchecked, it will blow us to unknowable destinations where no growth and development will be realized.

When given the opportunity to be the people’s servant, I shall lead by being fundamentally democratic and collective. I understand that our people can immeasurably be strengthened by being a united family and community, and working as a team to excel. I also understand that the key aspiration to our heir is to ensure that they lead a better life. These can only be achieved by creating a strong constituency economy through nurturing a development conscious and caring society which engulfs all clans and tolerant to multi-ethnicity.

With my education background and experience as a successful businessman, I bring with me a passionately held view that is fundamental to my political party’s vision & ideology, the Kenyan vision 2030 and to compact this visions with next generation that offers the opportunity to learn, retain and excel throughout life in all spheres of development within the constituency, county and country.

Our youths and women are endowed with talents and gifts. I will not waste them and deny the youths and women access to lucrative opportunities. My passion is to attain a higher level in terms of youth enrollment to tertiary education institution and those with talents and gifts be exposed to further training and advancement. These will incorporate all gender, religious faith, unprivileged, physically challenged and the less fortunate youths and women within the constituency.

I will do my best and do everything in my power to bring the long radical transformation that uplifts the living standard of our people within the constituency, county level and the Republic of Kenya. I can only do these upon receiving your approval through your vote. Vote for me at the ODM party nominations level and the General Election exercise in 2013.

God Bless You and I wish you Merry Christmas and Prosperous New Year 2013.
